Daily Deal: The Most Versatile Tees

Local brand Gold Saturn's tees are a hit With hipsters

Hipsters in Miami just can’t get enough of local brand Gold Saturn’s T-shirts.

Designed by Pinecrest resident David Jon Acosta, the tees and tunics have been spotted everywhere from the suburbs of Kendall to clubs in South Beach and Downtown Miami.

Acosta, 24, says everyone from teens to hip mothers like them because of they’re versatile to don day and night.

“They're easy chic,” says the student designer who attends the Art Institute in Miami. “You can pair them up with high waisted shorts and skirts, jeans, pants and even a cute blazer for a dressier look.”

The 70s-inspired collection is emblazoned with sayings like “Make Clothes Not War” and quirky images of peace signs, happy faces and mushrooms with a modern twist.

One of his favorites from the unisex collection is “Prescription for Peace.” The shirt features a peace sign shaped out of tiny multi-colored pills.

“It’s the first shirt I designed and I love because it’s colorful and you can interpret it anyway you want,” he explains.

Scarlett Boutique owner Stacy Allen says Gold Saturn is the next big thing.

“The t-shirts are beyond cute and comfortable. The prints are modern, eclectic and trendy. They are easy dress up and dress down tops with a great fit,” says Allen who specializes in selling contemporary labels like T-bags and Rachel Pally from her South Miami boutique.

Other stores that carry the tees include Swag in North Miami, Habit in Coral Gables and soon Intermix.
