Local Designer's Romper Is the Rage

Karina Grimaldi's Peacock Feather Onesie is the "It" Romper

Long or short. Printed or plain. Rompers, aka grown-up onesies, are everywhere, and they won’t be disappearing for fall, either.

So rest assured, you made a wise purchase if you already bought one.

When it comes to Miami ladies' favorite brand, local designer Karina Grimaldi takes the lead with her silky, short one-pieces that feature a detachable peacock feather ornament.

The stylish short suit comes in several shades such as violet, teal, green, black and brown.

So why are they so popular?

“It’s a fun piece that’s easy to wear and it’s perfect for the summer,” said Grimaldi, who hails from Argentina.

She isn’t the only one who thinks so.

Aside from being sold at local shops like Jessie’s, Rebel and Koko&Palenki, the coveted ensemble was featured in the May issue of Cosmopolitan magazine and chains like Intermix and online giant Shopbop.com also sell the romper.

“The fit is great and the bold colors are really fun,” said Alle Fifter, a spokesperson for Shopbop.com “Her rompers are what’s in style right now,” said Fifter.

Grimaldi’s peacock feather romper retails for $174.

If the flirty leg baring look isn’t for you, there's also tops and jumpers baring the same motif.

Come fall, ladies can look forward to her tuxedo romper.

“It is so elegant and chic, you can wear it to a cocktail party,” said Grimaldi.
