It’s the first thing you crave after a night on the town, and it’s the food of choice for any shindig. So, who better to open up a pizza shop than the party set?
The merrymakers of Poplife put their efforts together, rolled them in dough, covered them with sauce, sprinkled on a little cheese and started cranking up the heat in the ovens for Ecco Pizzateca + Lounge’s grand opening tonight.
Situated in Downtown Miami, Ecco offers up organic slices and Italian sides for the lunch crowd. Expect to enjoy your slice with a song, as the team behind the pizza shop is a favorite with area hipsters who enjoy their rock indie style.
Keep Ecco on your radar for happy hour on Thursdays and Fridays, too. From 4 to 7 p.m. both nights they’ll be dishing up free hors d’oeuvres and beats by DJ Chris Mora.
We hear there’s even an upstairs area for soirees, but that’s something you can check out in person tonight when the dough gets rolling.
On the more upscale side, “a quick stop,” is a definition that fits Sosta, the latest pizzeria to hit Lincoln Road. The quaint little pizza shop from the team behind Quattro brings a taste of authentic Italian pizza to South Beach.
The digs, located just across from its sister eatery, are upscale and nice, but a little on the smallish side—keeping true to its name.
What it lacks in grandiose surroundings, Sosta makes up for in its slices. The menu boasts a selection of white or tomato pies with toppings as familiar as mushrooms and salami and exotic as asparagus with egg or brie and salmon.
It’s all baked up right before your eyes in the open kitchen’s rotating brick oven—of which there are only two in all the States. So feel free to think of it as limited-edition pizza. But don’t count on keeping the slice as a souvenir. Some things were meant to be eaten.
Wash down your slice with one of 75 wines or beers. With that many choices on tap, it may make your “quick stop” a little longer than anticipated.
