Throw-overs Are the New Cardigan

At Savvy Girl boutique, this accessory is a hot seller

Pushovers have never been stylish, let alone bearable, but throw-overs, as many Miamians are calling the new flowy cardigan, are a different story.

At Savvy Girl boutique, throw-overs are hotter than these dog days of summer.

Owner Kristy Ferradas said they can be worn as a swimsuit cover-up, donned with jeans and a tee or even layered over this summer’s it dress: the maxi.

Inside the shop, which is located at the Red Bird Shopping Center, these effortlessly chic accessories exude everything from sophistication to boho chic.

Find them in an assortment of styles and hues such as stripes, paisley and solids by brands like Piko and S&S for $45.

“They're a great investment to make because they’re versatile and they are going to be big for fall, too,” said Ferradas.

To complement the look of the throw-over, Ferradas, a 23-year-old Arts Institute graduate, tapped into her flair for fashion and designed her own line of sashes from her label Allie Nicole, which is exclusive to her two-year-old shop.

“I made them for myself first and then customers wanted one,” said Ferradas. “As soon as I get a new shipment, they sell out like crazy.”

The lycra sashes are available in every color and cost $24.

“They’re great when you want to substitute them for a chunky belt or want to add color to your outfit,” added Ferradas.

Not sure if the look is for you?

Ferradas said she can help anyone get glammed up from head to toe.

“I’ve been in this business since I was sixteen, working everywhere from Macy's to Nordstrom, and I’m good at seeing people’s bodies and knowing what will look good on them.”

The store carries everything from cheap and chic apparel and accessories to well known contemporary labels like Yumi Kim

Prices run from $18 for a top up to $300 for a dress.
