WEATHER ALERTS

  • Coastal Flood Statement

    Mainland Monroe, FL

    648 PM EST Fri Nov 22 2019

...MINOR COASTAL FLOODING CONTINUES ACROSS LOW-LYING AREAS OF THE
    UPPER KEYS...

    * COASTAL FLOODING...Minor saltwater flooding is occurring and
will continue over low-lying areas of the Upper Keys,
particularly for the Bayside communities of Key Largo. Total
water levels are about 1.0 to 1.5 feet above mean sea level.

    * TIMING...Impacts will continue uninterrupted with little to no
relief at low tide. Given the approaching new moon and the
expected increase in tidal amplitude, impacts likely will
continue for the next several days.

    * IMPACTS...Minor saltwater flooding of low elevation streets
and lots is likely. Some storm drains will overflow, and some
seawalls and docks will be overtopped. Boaters can expect less
clearance under fixed bridges. Motorists should remember that
persistent puddles around the times of high tide are almost
certain to contain a mix of saltwater.
