Low Pressure Area May Soak South Florida

A broad area of low pressure near the northwest Bahamas will drift westward Thursday and will increase the shower and thunderstorm chances in South Florida through Saturday with some improvements expected by Sunday.

While there is a slim chance for development, the window for that to happen is very narrow. A National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration recon flight may investigate this area Thursday afternoon.

In the meantime, shower coverage will increase Thursday and carry into the weekend. Locally heavy rains are possible, especially Friday, as this low pulls across the Florida peninsula.
