Man Arrested in Connection With University of Miami Student's Killing

The body of 23-year-old Yasser Talal Ibrahim Abualfaraj was found Sunday, Oct. 7 in his apartment in Coral Gables

Robert Wayne Gore, the man arrested in the murder of University of Miami student Yasser Talal Ibrahim Abualfaraj, appears in court.

A man has been charged in connection with the killing of a University of Miami architecture student whose body was found earlier this month in his Coral Gables apartment.

The Miami-Dade Police Department arrested Robert Wayne Gore, 28, in the area of SW 200 Street and South Dixie Highway and charged him with first degree murder and armed burglary, officials said Wednesday.

Yasser Talal Ibrahim Abualfaraj, 23, was found dead Oct. 7 in his off-campus apartment. His body was found with multiple signs of trauma, police said.

According to a police report, Gore - who is homeless - entered the apartment and grabbed several sharp weapons and stabbed Abualfaraj, a third-year architecture student from Saudi Arabia, while he was sleeping over 60 times before fleeing with several items.

Gore later confessed to the incident to investigators. He was being held without bond and attorney information wasn't available.
