A college resident director who lives in a dormitory with his wife taught his dog to whisper after its loud bark drew complaints. “I would say almost immediately there was a barking issue,” Brian Gertler, who lives at Greenville University in Greenville, Illinois, said. Gertler noticed the dog’s breathing changed after intense exercise. So, with a tennis ball and treats, he taught the dog how to whisper-bark. However, the bark hasn’t completely disappeared. When the dog, named Dudley, encounters another dog or squirrel, he still barks.
