Davie Job Fair “Truly a Blessing,” Veteran Says

22-year-old Derek Lewis has been job hunting since he left the Air Force in July. On Wednesday morning, he was first in line at a Davie job fair designed especially for veterans. “The fact that everybody actually cares,” said Lewis, “that’s truly a blessing.” Radio station 850 WFTL spearheaded the effort, which sprang from an issue show host Joyce Kaufman kept confronting: veterans calling in and saying despite their skills, they couldn’t land a job.
