Firefighters Give Boost to Fort Lauderdale Triathlon Athlete Hector Picard

Fort Lauderdale firefighters presented a big check for about $3,100 Wednesday to Hector Picard, a triathlon athlete and double-arm amputee who is setting off on a cross-country bike ride June 8 to raise money for a little boy with no arms. Picard’s custom $12,000 bike was stolen in early May, and the firefighters have pitched in to help him complete his mission for Jameson Davis. Picard, Fort Lauderdale firefighters union president Scott Bayne, and Wendy Picard spoke at the event.
