Lockdown Lifted After Shooting Near Brownsville Middle School: Miami-Dade Police

A drive-by shooting near Brownsville Middle School Friday afternoon prompted the lockdown of the middle school, at 4899 Northwest 24th Ave., and Earlington Heights Elementary School, at 4750 Northwest 22nd Ave. Parents Audrey Jackson and Jessica Smith spoke about the incident. Though the shooting did not occur in a school, it occurred just after Superintendent of Schools Alberto Carvalho and Miami-Dade Schools Police Chief Ian Moffett announced expanded safety measures to combat gun violence.
