Nationwide Fungal Meningitis Cases Unrelated to Death of High School Student: Officials

Florida officials confirmed 10 fungal meningitis cases statewide, including two deaths in Marion County. They also assure the cases are unrelated to the death of Chris Valdes, 18, a student at Coral Reef Senior High who contracted and died from bacterial meningitis. His aunt, Barbara Torres, told NBC 6 South Florida that Valdes was living his life at 18 and questioned why he passed away so young.
