1 Person Dead in Lauderdale Lakes Fire: BSO

A person was found dead after a house fire in Lauderdale Lakes. The Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

One person died in a house fire in Lauderdale Lakes Friday night, authorities said.

The fire broke out at 5061 Northwest 41st St. at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, and when firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke in the house. When they went inside they found the person dead, likely from smoke inhalation, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities have not identified the victim. It's unclear how the fire started, the BSO said.

BSO homicide detectives were on the scene.

The cause of the fire was not known, and authorities continue to investigate.
