2 Labor Day Shootings Being Investigated in Miami: Police

Miami Police are investigating two separate shootings that occurred on Monday, just hours apart.

Miami Police are investigating two separate fatal shootings that occurred on Monday, just hours apart.

Both victims were rushed to the hospital for surgery, but neither survived.

Emotions ran high for the family of a man shot and killed at his home along Northwest 27th Street near 13th Avenue Monday around 5:45 p.m.

Paula Medino came home to learn her neighbor a, 66-year-old man, was the victim, "Very good man. Very, very good man."

Police said he was shot in the abdomen and taken to the hospital for surgery, where he died. They said they are questioning persons of interest, but haven't made any arrests.

About 45 minutes later and less than two miles north, shots rang out along Northwest 54th Street and 13th Avenue, injuring a 17-year-old male.

Police said he was shot multiple times and died in surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital. They have no leads in this violence, but they are searching for the shooter.

Police said the shootings don't appear to be related.
