Three people, including a Miami Police officer, were hospitalized after a crash Monday night.

According to police, the officer was traveling northbound on Northwest 7th Avenue, with lights and sirens, to respond to a call about a child choking and not breathing just after 8:30 p.m. when they were involved in a collision with a Volkswagen Jetta at 10th Street.

Police said the driver of the Jetta was traveling eastbound on Northwest 10th Street when they crashed and hit a street lamp.

Officials closed the area of Northwest 7th Avenue between 10th and 11th Streets for the investigation.

Footage from the scene showed both cars, including a police cruiser, completely totaled. The street lamp had then fallen on top of the cruiser.

All three people - including the officer and the man and woman riding in the Jetta - were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in stable condition, police said.

According to officials, the officer suffered several lacerations, was treated and released. The man in the Jetta was checked at JMH and was released, but the woman had several bone fractures and remains in the hospital.

The crash is still under investigation.
