Andrew Gillum Vows to Register 1 Million Florida Voters by 2020

The former mayor of Tallahassee will make the announcement at Florida Memorial University, with some thinking he may announce a presidential bid.

Former Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum has launched a registration effort to try to turn the Sunshine State Democrat by 2020.

Gillum announced the launch of Forward Florida on Wednesday, vowing to engage and register at least 1 million new voters in the state.

Gillum, 39, hasn't ruled out another run for office and has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump. The former Tallahassee mayor ran for governor last year but narrowly lost to former U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis.

In January, it was announced that Gillum was joining CNN as a political commentator. Also in January, Florida's ethics commission said there's probable cause that Gillum accepted gifts from lobbyists during his time as Tallahassee's mayor, violating the state's ethics law, but Gillum has insisted he's done nothing wrong and is challenging the decision.
