Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle in Opa-locka: Miami-Dade Sheriff

It happened in the Northwest 144th block at Northwest 27th Avenue at around 5:30 a.m., the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities are investigating after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Opa-locka Friday morning.

The incident happened near Northwest 27th Avenue and Ali Baba Avenue at around 5:30 a.m., the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office said. Streets were blocked off between Ali Baba Avenue and Northwest 147th Street.

According to the sheriff's office, a vehicle was heaving north on Northwest 27th Avenue when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing outside of the crosswalk.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. His identity wasn't released.

The driver stayed at the scene, authorities said.

Video showed authorities blocking roads in the area and diverting drivers.
