Broward County Declares Cold Weather Emergency as Low Temps Hits Area

NBC 6’s Julia Bagg is live in Broward County to see how people are dealing with temps as low as th 40’s in some places.

Across South Florida, people are waking up to temperatures in some areas that are at least 10 degrees below normal. Temps as low as the 40's took over some areas Thursday morning, while others woke up to the lower 50's.

Broward County declared a Cold Weather Emergency in the area due to low temperatures Wednesday night and Thursday morning, in effect until 7 a.m. on Thursday.

County officials advised homeless people to seek shelter at the following locations:

Pompano Beach

Pompano Beach City Hall

100 West Atlantic Blvd

The Salvation Army

1445 West Broward Blvd

(Shelter and pickup location)

Hollywood

Broward Outreach Center
