Charges Dropped Against MMA Fighter Thiago Silva

The Broward County State Attorney’s Office said Thursday that all charges against mixed martial arts fighter Thiago Silva have been dropped.

Silva was originally arrested after a February 6th incident where Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies say he pulled a gun on his estranged wife, Thaysa, in the parking lot a gym, put the gun in her mouth, threatened to kill her, and then locked himself in a townhouse until SWAT deputies talked him into surrendering peacefully.

Silva was initially charged with attempted murder, but the charges were reduced to aggravated assault with a firearm and resisting arrest without violence.

According to TMZ.com, the charges were dropped because the “victim was uncooperative, and investigators determined that she has likely moved out of the country.”

Silva has resumed mixed martial arts fighting, but it’s unknown if he will return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
