Coast Guard Offloads Major Cocaine Bust in Port Everglades

Over 16 tons of the drug, worth close to $420 million, was taken in by Coast Guard officials in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.

About 16 tons of cocaine worth an estimated $420 million is being offloaded at Port Everglades Tuesday morning.

The cocaine was confiscated by the Coast Guard over the course of 26 days near Central and South America. In total, 17 different smuggling operations were stopped by Coast Guard and Canadian crews.

The drugs were seized in international waters off the eastern Pacific Ocean.
