Cop Sniffs Out Miami Marijuana Grow House

Cops find massive operation after officer smells pot in home

South Florida is living up to its reputation as the nation's grow house capital after yet another marijuana nursery was sniffed out in Miami Tuesday night.

Miami Police busted the house after an officer driving by the home in the 1600 block of Southwest 17th Street could smell the pot from his car, police said.

When officers entered the home, they say they found over 50 plants being cultivated, some as high as seven feet tall.

Officers were seen hauling the plants out in dozens of garbage bags around 1 a.m. Police didn't give the value of the pot.

One man was taken into custody at the home, but police haven't identified him.

Police said propane tanks were also found in the home, which had shoddy electric work to keep the hydroponics lab running which could have caused a fire hazard.

The news comes just a day after police in Miami-Dade discovered a grow house operation while investigating a home invasion.
