The family says the young child was bit by the family’s 1-year-old American Bulldog mix in an unprovoked attack, causing him extensive injuries.

A young girl was airlifted to a trauma center after she was attacked by a dog at a home in northwest Miami-Dade Monday morning, officials said.

The incident happened at a home in the 5400 block of Northwest 184th Street.

Miami-Dade Police officials said the child was visiting a home and the homeowners were showing the dog to the child to familiarize the child with it when the dog attacked.

Footage from Chopper 6 showed the child being moved from an ambulance to an air rescue helicoper to take her to a local hospital.
