Electrical Worker Dies After Touching Live Wire

Police have not yet identified the victim.

An electrical worker died after being electrocuted on the job in Northwest Miami-Dade. NBC 6’s Jamie Guirola reports.

An electrical worker died Thursday on the job in Northwest Miami-Dade.

Miami-Dade Police said the unidentified 67-year-old man was working at 9330 NW 33rd Court for Enterprise Electrical Contracting, which is contracted by Florida Power & Light.

The man apparently touched an active line just before noon and was fatally shocked. The man's body, which was harnessed to the top of a pole, was brought down by workers.

In a statement, FPL said:

"We extend our thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of one of our contractors who was involved in an incident in Miami earlier today. Safety is one of our core values at FPL and is part of the foundation of everything we do. We understand that local law enforcement agencies are working to determine what happened. We are unable to provide any additional information at this time.

Officials are now investigating what went wrong. No further information was immediately available.
