Fatal Turnpike Crash Backs Up Traffic

A crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Miami-Dade killed one person and sent three others to the hospital.

One person was killed and three others injured in a violent wreck on the Florida's Turnpike in Miami-Dade Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike and had traffic backed up for miles.

All lanes were shut down at the site of the crash at Okeechobee Road to allow air rescue to land on the roadway.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue confirmed one person was killed and three others were transported by air to area hospitals.

The cause of the crash was unknown.
