FBI Investigating Near-Simultaneous Bank Robberies in South Florida

The FBI is investigating two bank robberies in South Florida Thursday.

The FBI is trying to solve two South Florida bank robberies that happened at almost the exact same time.

Surveillance photos showed a masked man robbing the SunTrust Bank around 9:10 a.m. Thursday on North University Drive in Coral Springs.

The robber flashed a weapon and demanded money from the teller, but didn't hurt anyone.

The FBI believes this was the so-called "Filter Bandit," a man wanted for eight hold-ups in the past year. They call him that because he wears a dust filter mask.

About 10 minutes later, Bank of America on Northwest 186th Street in Miami Lakes was hit.

In this case, the robber implied he had a gun when he demanded money from the teller. No one was hurt.

Anyone with information about these crimes is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
