Five men were rescued near Fisher Island after their boat overturned Friday morning.
Chopper 6 was above the scene just before 10 a.m. as Miami-Dade Fire Rescue pulled them from the water.
"The sea was a little rough, but the rescue was effective and quick," said Lt. Lionel Reyes.
Officials said the experienced boaters went out fishing for bait, when suddenly their 23-foot vessel started taking on water. The cuplrit: a faulty bilge pump. WIth the pump inoperable, excess water could not drain out.
The men told authorities a wave then caused the vessel to flip over.
Rescuers brought the group to the Watson Island Marina. None of the men were injured in the incident.
