Minimum wage increase among new Florida laws that went into effect Monday

Florida has rolled out new laws on Monday as the new year kicked in. The minimum wage increased. NBC 6’s Claudia DoCampo reports.

A slight increase in minimum wage is among the new laws that went into effect on the first day of 2018 in Florida.

Florida's minimum wage increased 15 cents from $8.10 per hour to $8.25 on Jan. 1. Florida is among 18 states increasing their minimum wage on Monday.

State of Florida employees will also see changes to their retirement savings. It will now be put into an investment program, similar to a 401k account.

Florida parents who aren't married will have a new parenting plan available to help with time-sharing agreements and establish set visitation times.
