Florida Surf Shop Burglar Crashes Motorcycle Leaving Crime Scene: Deputies

Damon Michael Miljour was found after the crash with $10,000 worth of stolen merchandise, authorities said.

A Florida burglar was wearing his guilt on his face when he crashed his motorcycle after ripping off a local surf shop, authorities said.

Damon Michael Miljour, 36, was arrested Thursday on charges of burglary, grand theft and DUI, according to a report from the Lee County Sheriff's Office. He remained in jail Monday morning on a $4,750 bond, records showed.

According to the report, Lee suffered injuries to his face after he crashed the motorcycle on Bonita Beach Road.

As deputies arrived to the scene, they found Miljour, a black Harley Davison motorcycle and numerous sunglasses, wrist watches and footwear worth about $10,000 lying on the ground, authorities said.

The items were new and had sale tags from “Mango Bay,” a nearby surf store. Miljour also had tote bags with tags, attached to his arm, deputies said.

Miljour was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital to be treated for his injuries, authorities said.

When authorities tried to speak to Miljour, he said he did not remember anything that happened before waking up at the hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

But after an investigation, deputies found a smashed window in the store and a manager identified the same merchandise found on the scene as missing from the shop, authorities said.

It wasn’t immediately known if he had an attorney.
