Florida's Senior Senator Endorses Meek

Nelson backs Meek for senate seat

Florida's senior Senator, Bill Nelson, is backing Congressman Kendrick Meek for the U.S. Senate

"Kendrick Meek's career has always been defined by his public service," Sen. Nelson said in a statement Wednesday.  "He's stood tall for the interests of all Floridians and is not afraid to take on special interests that put their needs above those of our state's citizens."

Meek has already received endorsements from U.S. Reps. Corrine Brown, Kathy Castor, Alcee Hastings, Ron Klein, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, but adding Nelson to the list is big for the Congressman from Miami.

"His voice and convictions are needed in the U.S. Senate.  That's why I'm wholeheartedly endorsing Kendrick Meek for the U.S. Senate," Nelson said.

Meek was no doubt thrilled to receive the endorsement from one of the Sunshine State's top Democrats.

"On the many issues affecting our state, from keeping space industry jobs in Florida, to protecting the interests of our men and women in uniform who call Florida home, to the millions of seniors who are relying on their elected officials to achieve comprehensive health care reform, Sen. Nelson's commitment to Florida is unrivaled and I am honored to receive his backing," Meek said.
