Gas Station Clerk Shoots, Kills Robbery Suspect in Fort Lauderdale

A Valero gas station clerk in unincorporated Broward shoots and kills a man who robbed him, Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said.

A suspect in a robbery was shot and killed by a gas station clerk Wednesday in Fort Lauderdale.

It happened at around 4:30 p.m. at the Valero station on Sunrise Boulevard, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.

Officials said two male subjects robbed the clerk at gunpoint. One of them used the weapon to strike the clerk on the head as the other took cash from the register. Surveillance video shows the moments leading up to and during the robbery.

As the suspects ran away, the clerk shot at them, BSO said. One of the suspects was later dropped off at a fire station in Hollywood suffering from a gunshot wound before he was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The gas station clerk is not facing any charges at this time, officials said.
