Miami-Dade Police said they found a live grenade at 791 NE 87th St. A robot was on the premises as a bomb squad responded. Police said they planned to blow up the grenade.
Officers yelled "fire in the hole" before police detonated a grenade in a front yard in northeast Miami-Dade early Thursday evening.
The blast occurred at about 6:18 p.m. There were no injuries.
Police said earlier that they were sending a bomb squad to blow up the grenade. It was found at 791 NE 87th St., Miami-Dade Police spokesman Detective Javier Baez said.
Police surrounded the home, which is across the street from Phyllis Ruth Miller Elementary School.
Police did not appear to be evacuating any homes in the neighborhood.
