Look-Alike Contest Highlights Key West's Hemingway Days

White-haired contestants have already sung happy birthday to “Papa,” but this year’s Ernest Hemingway look-alike won’t be crowned in Key West until Sunday. With the preliminary rounds of the premiere event of the annual Hemingway Days festival already underway at the late writer’s favorite bar, Sloppy Joe’s, it’s clearl the island hasn’t forgotten its most famous former resident. The twinsy competition is just part of a week that includes a short story competition directed by granddaughter Lorian Hemingway, a wacky “Running of the Bulls,” a one-man play chronicling Papa’s life and adventures, and the $250,000 Drambuie Key West Marlin Tournament.
