Man Found Shot Dead in North Miami Beach: Police

Police are investigating after a man was found dead in a parking lot in North Miami Beach. NBC 6’s Julia Bagg reports.

Police are investigating after a man was found shot to death in a North Miami Beach parking lot.

A North Miami Beach Police officer was on patrol around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night when he saw a man lying on the ground in a strip mall parking lot located at Northeast Seventh and 167th Streets.

"The officer pulled over to check on the male, and found that he had been shot multiple times," said Captain Richard Rand of North Miami Beach Police. "Rescue responded and pronounced the male deceased on scene."

The victim, later identified as 31-year-old Annex Jean,  had been shot multiple times. People who work at the strip mall did not learn what happened until this morning.

Detectives now hope that surveillance video from surrounding businesses will help them find Jean's killer.

"I live around here, and my brother lives around here and dear friends of mine that just come in and out all the time," said Melissa Garcia. "It's just scary to know it could have been one of them, or one of us."

Friends of Jean say he was a nice guy who didn't bother anyone. They say he was a father of two young children.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
