Man Indicted in Wife's Slaying, Faces Death Sentence

A southwest Florida man has been indicted in the slaying of his wife and now faces a possible death sentence.

Local media outlets report that a grand jury charged Mark Sievers and Jimmy Rodgers with first-degree murder on Wednesday.

Dr. Teresa Sievers was found dead in the couple's home in June of 2015. Authorities say Mark Sievers arranged the killing with his lifelong friend, Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. Officials say Wright and Rodgers traveled from Missouri to carry it out.

Wright and Rodgers were linked the slaying in August, and Sievers was arrested in February.

Wright has pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge and agreed to cooperate with prosecutors in exchange for a 25-year prison sentence.

Sievers' attorney has previously said his client denied any involvement in his wife's slaying.
