Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who sexually battered a woman vacationing from Switzerland inside her Miami Beach hotel. Miami Beach Police spokeswoman Det. Vivian Hernandez discussed the case.

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who sexually battered a woman vacationing from Switzerland inside her Miami Beach hotel.

The incident happened the early hours of Sept. 6 at the Hotel Breakwater South Beach at 940 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach Police said Tuesday.

Calls for comment to the hotel Tuesday weren't immediately returned.


Police said the woman was walking to the hotel around 4:30 a.m. and was followed into the elevator by the suspect, who said he was going to the same floor.

As they exited the elevator, the suspect overpowered the woman and later sexually battered her, police said.


The suspect, who was captured in surveillance photos released by police, is described as a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot-10 and 230 pounds with a possible cursive letter tattoo on his upper left chest.
