Man Shot and Killed During Robbery at Miami Pawn Shop

NBC 6’s Melissa Adan has details from the scene where one man lost his life as three people were involved according to police.

A man was shot and killed during a robbery at a Miami pawn shop Thursday and now police are searching for the gunmen.

The shooting happened at the Value Pawn and Jewelry at 717 Southwest 17th Avenue in Little Havana, Miami Police said. The victim was identified as 65-year-old Ricardo Reyes.

Police said three suspects pulled up in a red SUV and two jumped out and went in the store.

The suspects pointed guns at customers and employees then smashed some glass cases and stole jewelry, police said.

At one point they shot Reyes, who was looking at TVs with a friend, police said. It's unknown why he was targeted.

"Somebody comes in like that and just kills somebody...that's really serious," said Juan Gonzalez, who owns a market next to the shop. Gonzalez said the victim came into his store often anc alled him "very respectful" and a nice guy.

The suspects fled the scene in the SUV. The two robbers who stormed into the pawn shop are described as men, possibly in their 20s. Police gave no description of the getaway driver.

Detectives are searching for possible surveillance video that may have captured the crime.
