Police are investigating whether a deadly shooting in Miami was self-defense. NBC6’s Niko Clemmons reports
A man has died after being shot several times by a man who says it was self-defense Friday in Miami's Little River, police said.
The shooting happened after 2 p.m. in the area of Northwest 4th Avenue and 71st Street, where Miami Fire Rescue found the man unconscious, according to Miami Police.

The victim was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in very critical condition, police said. He was later pronounced dead.
The alleged shooter stayed at the scene, cooperated with authorities and claimed it was self-defense, police said.

It's unclear what led up to the shooting.
Footage from Chopper 6 showed officers handcuffing a man and leading him to a police car.
Police recovered three firearms at the scene.

One woman, who didn't want to be identified, said she witnessed the violent encounter.
“He was shooting at the man on the floor,” she said. “I just couldn’t believe it, I was looking with my eyes, then he hit him with the rifle; it was big.”
Police said both men were in separate vehicles. Bullet holes could be seen in both. A child was also in one of the cars, but was not hurt, detectives said.
“The officer got the little girl out of the car, covered her face, and put her in another car, then I heard a lady holler, that's my niece, that's my niece,” another neighbor said.
Several people said they heard the gunshots, but were too afraid to show their faces on camera or identify themselves.
“I heard pop, pop, pop,” one woman said. “It paused, and then I heard pop, pop, pop. I ducked because it sounded so close to my apartment.”
Detectives are questioning the alleged shooter to determine if the shooting was self-defense or negligence. Neither man’s identity has been released.
