Man Tried to Abduct Young Girl Near Pompano Beach Bus Stop: BSO

NBC 6’s Keith Jones has the story of a brave girl who said no as a man tried to lure her into his car near a Pompano Beach bus stop.

Authorities are looking for a man who tried to abduct a young girl as she walked to her bus stop in Pompano Beach.

The 8-year-old girl was walking in the 3200 block of Northeast 3rd Avenue the morning of Sept. 23 when she was approached by the suspect who was driving a black Cadillac, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

“He just completely stopped and he was like asking me do I want candy or money or a drive to school,” the girl who was approached said. “I said no.”

With that, the elementary student took off in a sprint to get away. A witness saw the girl running and asked her if she was okay. "He tried to rape me," the girl replied, according to the BSO.

“Luckily she did what I taught her, never talk to strangers and just run,” the girl’s mother said.

The suspect is described as white, possibly Hispanic, in his 30s and clean shaven. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
