Miami Sees the Eco-Friendly Light With Exchange Program

The county is helping shed some light on the benefits of energy efficient light bulbs through a new program

Residents in Miami-Dade County can now exchange up to three of their most heavily used incandescent bulbs for three energy-efficient compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) for free.

An Energy Star-qualified CFL will save about $30 over its lifetime, uses 75 percent less energy and lasts about 10 times longer than an incandescent bulb.

Miami-Dade residents can take advantage of the exchange program by attending one of the scheduled "Adopt-a-Tree" events and other events to be scheduled. The next "Adopt-a-Tree" event will take place on September 25th from 9 a.m. to noon at J.C. Bermudez Park, 3100 NW 87th Avenue, Doral.
