Turning Tragedy Into Change: The 2019 Miami Beach Pride Ally Grand Marshalls

NBC 6 anchor Roxanne Vargas shares the story of Dennis and Judy Shepard, whose son – 21-year-old Matthew – was killed in a 1998 hate crime. They’ve turned their tragedy into advocy and have lobbied to pass resounding hate crimes prevention legislation while leading the Matthew Shepard Foundation nonprofit organization. In this year’s Miami Beach Pride parade, they will also serve as Ally Grand Marshalls.
