Oakland Park Fire Forces Residents to Evacuate

Investigators are working to determine what caused a large fire at an Oakland Park apartment building that forced dozens of residents to evacuate early Monday.

Crews were busy responding to a blaze burning at an Oakland Park apartment complex near a shopping center Monday morning.

The fire was on the second floor of the complex located at 5235 North Dixie Highway. The unit was unoccupied, but nearby residents were forced to evacuate.

Fire crews say no major injuries have been reported.

Crews were pulled out of the building after a portion of the roof collapsed. Firefighters remain on the scene.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
