Palm Beach Sheriff Deputy Used Service Weapon to Shoot Ex-Girlfriend, Kill Himself While in Duty: Police

Michael DeMarco was on duty and in his police car when he shot his ex-girlfriend and then turned the gun on himself, according to a report released.

New information released this week show that a Palm Beach Sheriff’s deputy was on duty and in uniform when he arrived at the home of his ex-girlfriend, shooting her with his service weapon before turning the gun on himself.

Michael DeMarco, who lived in the same building as the victim after their break up approximately three weeks before the shooting, arrived at the Inlet Harbor Club in Boynton Beach shortly after 8 a.m. last Thursday according to the police report obtained by NBC affiliate WPTV.

911 calls from witnesses also released detail the actions from DeMarco, who shot the victim in her back as she walked her dog before shooting himself in the head. He died at the scene while the victim remains in a Delray Beach hospital in critical but stable condition.
