Authorities are investigating after a robbery suspect stole a police cruiser in Plantation.
A manhunt is underway for a suspect who commandeered a police cruiser in Plantation Tuesday, police said.
The incident began with a reported robbery at a Stop & Shop Food Store on Northwest 9th Court, police said.
According to police, an officer was investigating the reported robbery when the suspect jumped out of their car and into the police cruiser and took off.
A chase ensued, going from Lauderhill into Plantation. The suspect stopped the cruiser in the area of 24nd Avenue and 19th Street in Plantation and exited the vehicle, taking off on foot.
There was a heavy police presence in the area and a search was underway.
