Miami-Dade Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested After Chase Ends in Rollover Crash on I-595

Police have arrested a suspect after a cross-county chase stemming from a bank robbery earlier in the day. NBC 6 Reporter Nathalia Ortiz explains.

A suspect in a Miami-Dade bank robbery is in custody after a chase that ended in a rollover crash on Interstate 595 in Broward County Friday, authorities said.

Officials with the FBI say 26-year-old Oscar Rivas is facing federal charges in the robbery of a Wells Fargo bank on Northwest 14th Street.

Rivas was pursued from Miami-Dade into Broward County by Miami-Dade Police and the Broward Sheriff's Office before crashing on I-595 westbound near the Florida's Turnpike, officials said.

No one, including Rivas, was injured in the crash and he was taken into custody at the scene.

Footage showed the car completely flipped over in the median of the highway and many officers at the scene.

Rivas was in federal custody and is expected to appear in court. Attorney information wasn't available.
