Shots Fired Near Two Northwest Miami-Dade Schools: Police

Police were responding to a scene in northwest Miami-Dade where shots were fired near two schools Wednesday morning.

Brownsville Middle School and Earlington Heights Elementary School, both in northwest Miami-Dade, were placed on lockdown Wednesday morning as police responded to calls of shots fired in the area, police say.

According to Miami-Dade Police, they received a call about shots fired in the area of Northwest 23rd Avenue and 50th Street in northwest Miami-Dade.

There are several evidence markets on the ground, which are bullet casings.

The two nearby schools were placed on lockdown as police investigated. That lockdown has since been lifted.
