A jury has found Anthony “Little Tony” Ferrari guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in the 2001 gangland-style slaying of South Florida businessman Konstantinos “Gus” Boulis. A South Florida jury has begun hearing testimony to decide whether to recommend the death penalty or life in prison for Anthony "Little Tony" Ferrari for the 2001 gangland-style slaying of a prominent businessman.
Jurors on Monday began hearing from witnesses before they begin deliberations, probably on Tuesday. Ferrari was convicted in October of murder in the shooting death of Konstantinos "Gus" Boulis, who was ambushed by a mob hit man in his car on a downtown Fort Lauderdale street.
After the jury makes its recommendation, it will be up to Circuit Judge Ilona Holmes to impose Ferrari's sentence.
Trial testimony indicated that Ferrari and 75-year-old Anthony "Big" Tony Moscatiello orchestrated the hit in a dispute over the SunCruz Casinos gambling fleet. Moscatiello pleaded not guilty and will be tried later.
