DeShawn Stevenson called LeBron James overrated years ago while the two were members of the Washington Wizards and Cleveland Cavaliers (respectively). Now he wants to be the next veteran to chase a ring with James as a member of the Heat.
The 13-year swingman was released by the Atlanta Hawks last week, and he took to social media over the weekend to personally lobby James for a spot on the Heat's roster.
"Miami Heat Where I Wanna Go!!! Lebron Make it Happen," he tweeted with questionable grammar.

Forgetting to capitalize the B in James' name will not help his cause, but Stevenson probably does not have much of a shot at landing in Miami regardless.
Though the Heat could use another swingman off the bench now that Mike Miller is gone, Stevenson does not fit the bill for Miami's ideal role player. He is a career 34% three-point shooter (which is league average), and he sports a career player efficiency rating of 9.9 (15 is average).
Back in March of 2008, when the Cavs and Wizards had one of the fiercest rivalries in the NBA, Stevenson called out James, telling the Washington Post, "He's overrated. And you can say I said that."
Stevenson walked back that statement a few years later when he faced James and the Heat as a member of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA Finals, saying the comment was borne out of frustration.

But either way, the odds of Miami taking a chance on Stevenson fall somewhere between slim and none, his enthusiasm notwithstanding.
