Video shows high-speed chase that ended in crash, foot pursuit, suspect in custody in Miami-Dade

NBC6’s Jessica Vallejo is live from Miami-Dade where a man was taken into custody after taking police on a high-speed police chase.

A high-speed police pursuit ended in a crash and brief foot chase in Miami-Dade Friday afternoon.

Footage showed a law enforcement helicopter monitoring a dark-colored pickup truck that was running lights and weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed in northwest Miami-Dade.

After several minutes, a police car was seen moving in on the truck.

Moments later, the truck crashed into a white sedan. Ring camera footage also captured the exact moment that crash took place outside a woman's home.

"I thought they were going to crash into my house," said resident Johanna Vestwever.

After crashing, the suspect fled on foot into a neighborhood wearing a backpack, which he ditched under another vehicle. Chopper video then shows officers moving in and taking him into custody.

It's believed the incident began in Broward County, involving a stolen license plate.

No other information was immediately known.
