Two Arrested in Hialeah After Hitting Police Car Following Chase in Allegedly Stolen Vehicle

NBC 6’s Melissa Adan has the latest on two men who were arrested following an early morning chase.

Hialeah Police arrested two men early Friday morning after they allegedly stole a vehicle and led them on a chase before hitting a police car.

Officers began their 30 minute pursuit of a white Toyota Highlander around 5 AM before the car fled and eventually struck the police car that was trying to stop it near SE 8th Avenue and Okeechobee Road.

The two people inside bailed out of the vehicle and officers began their chase on foot. Police quickly captured one of them, a 15-year-old, while they were able to catch the second man, 21-year-old Brandon Reyes, moments later not far from the scene of the crash.

Reyes was charged with grand theft of a vehicle, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and resisting an officer without violence. He was being held on $21,000 bond Friday and it's unknown if he's hired an attorney.

The officer who was in the car that was hit was not injured.
