A veteran Miami Fire Rescue captain has been arrested on multiple charges after investigators said he was allegedly irate with and demeaned deputies, an arrest report said.
Maximo Vasquez, 42, was arrested Monday on charges of assaulting a police officer or firefighter, disorderly conduct, resisting an officer without violence and misuse of 911, Miami-Dade jail records showed.

According to an arrest report, Miami-Dade deputies responded to a location in Miami regarding a missing person. There, Vasquez was "visibly irate and shouting" about his missing wife.

A deputy advised Vasquez that they would generate an incident report, and when he handed Vasquez a case card, Vasquez "became increasingly irate" and threw it back at the deputy, the report said.
Vasquez had already called 911 on two occasions throughout the night, "only to demean deputies that arrived on scene and demand that deputies find his wife," the report said.
Records showed Vasquez is a 15-year veteran of the fire department and a member of an Urban Search and Rescue Task Force.

Officials with Miami Fire Rescue released a statement on the arrest.
"The City of Miami Department of Fire-Rescue is aware of an incident involving a 15-year veteran firefighter who was arrested early Monday morning by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office," the statement read. "At this time, we have not been in contact with the individual. Once contact is established, the department will initiate a thorough internal investigation in accordance with our policies and procedures."
Vasquez went before a judge on Tuesday, where his defense attorney argued against the resisting an officer charge.
"He was taken into custody immediately so I don’t see anything where there's a resisting there. The defendant called 911," the attorney said. "I do not see the resistance."
The prosecutor agreed and the judge did not find probable cause on the resisting an officer charge. Vasquez was given the option to be released with pre-trial services or an alternate bond of $1,150 on the other counts.
